Our story

Started by people tired of paying cable prices for cable quality

SonicTV opened in 2018 with a single streaming cluster and a few hundred subscribers in the National Capital Region. The pitch was simple then and it has not changed: the same channels a Canadian household actually watches, delivered over the internet connection it already pays for, at a fraction of what the incumbent charges.

Eight years and more than fifty thousand activations later the infrastructure looks rather different — two independent clusters, fifty dedicated 20 Gbit machines and ten points of presence — but the operating principle is identical. Every order is confirmed by a person. Every outage is answered by a person. Nobody is routed into a ticket queue to wait three days for a canned reply.

We deliberately stayed small on the commercial side and spent the money on delivery instead. That is why the rate card has five straightforward lines and no add-on packs: the whole channel lineup comes with every plan.

Where we are

SonicTV Media, 222 Queen Street, Suite 1400, Ottawa, Ontario. Subscribers stretch from Halifax and Moncton through Montréal, Québec City and Toronto to Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver — and the support desk answers in English and French whichever time zone you are calling from.

What we hold ourselves to

Four commitments that shape how SonicTV runs

Stability before channel counts

It is easy to advertise a bigger number. It is harder to keep 19,800 feeds actually alive. Dead sources are removed rather than left in the guide, and the admin team reviews stream performance daily — the reason our measured availability sits at 99.9%.

Honest, bilingual support

English or French, at any hour, from a human. If a channel you want is not in the lineup we tell you before you order rather than after. Reach us any time through the contact page.

No lock-in of any kind

No contract, no credit check, no automatic renewal, no cancellation maze. The CA$10.99 introductory month exists precisely so you can judge the service before committing to anything longer.

One device, done properly

Each subscription authorises a single device through IBO Player. That keeps the network predictable and the picture clean, and it is why our setup guide can be this short.

How SonicTV is put together

Two independent clusters share the load. Sonic North carries the Canadian and American feeds — TSN, Sportsnet, CBC, CTV, Global, Citytv, the NHL club channels and the US network affiliates. Sonic Global carries the international lineup, from Sky Sports and the Premier League through the Arabic, South Asian, Nordic and African packages. Traffic fails over between them automatically, so a problem on one cluster does not end your evening.

On top of that sits the video-on-demand vault: 84,000+ films and series episodes, curated daily, with complete seasons rather than scattered episodes. Everything is delivered through IBO Player, which means one application to learn and one application to update.

Working with SonicTV

Two partner routes exist alongside the retail subscription. The reseller programme issues credits and a master panel so you can create and renew your own customer lines; the affiliate programme pays 25% on first-time sales and 25% again on renewals for anyone who prefers to simply share a link. Both are run by the same Ottawa team, and both pay on schedule.
